The Future with FreeWay HomeStay

So what plans do we have for future releases of the FreeWayHomeStay website?

Some of the ideas we are considering include:


A Buy / Sell / Swap function.
No, we don't intend to compete with Trademe we just thought that some members might want the option of having another channel to promote their 'stuff' through. If we did this there would be NO comission or anything else that involved FreeWayHomeStay directly. All business would be conducted directly between members.


A Motorcycle Road Tests database.
This would operate in a similar way to the FreeWay Motorcycle Pedigrees. You might want to try out your journalistic skills and write your own Road Test on a new bike you've just bought, or even on an old one you used to own. We also thought this could be extended to include Ride Impressions where perhaps you just went for a spin on a mates bike, or perhaps a new one from a dealer. We could even add a category for General Maintenance tips.


Membership Blogging
We see this as operating in much the same way as most blog functions. It would of course become searchable by all memers across the entire membership base.
To add value to this function we would enable searches by subject lists, by tags (as entered by the author), and possibly even across the raw text as well.

Forums
Unfortunately this is not something that we would be interested in doing. There are plenty of very good forums already and we think that they do a much better job of things than we could. The most popular woule be the NZ Kiwibiker foum.

Safety / Rider Training Tips
There are a lot of resources out there for new (and yes, also for the more experienced riders). We're wondering about building a database of weblinks to external resources that we can all tap in to easily. There's also a lot of junk out there so we would have to 'vet' additions to this database, but it would be great to have all our members on the look out for good material.


Taking FreeWay HomeStay to Australia
This is a big one and we would he to think carefully about this first. But we have already had three people ask if this was going to happen. Providing all members with the opportunity to access both countries would be great, even if it were only to read up on some of the gret Aussie Roads and Hot Spots. But we would also provide support for Accommodation Booking between countries as well.


What about a collection of the VERY BEST stunt riding videos?
There is some good material aout there! Like this one with a guy on a late model Kawasaki Z1000

Fun Stuff
Most of us love a good laugh. And my kids have introduced me to a lot of really funny youtube videos over the years. We could set up a few categories to cater to different tastes. Try this one on for something different: Foster Brookes does the drunk pilot routine with Dean Martin (circa 1969). We could also include categories for the coolest/dumbest bike crashes like the guy picking up a brand new Hyabusa from the dealer. He only got about 10 mtrs before spinning out the rear and falling off.


Books and Movies
This could become another popular resource amongst members. Most of us has favourite movies and books, and building and sharing a list of these with a brief summary or synopsis might be quite useful.
