Become a FreeWay Marshal?
Would you like to become a FreeWay Marshal?
Given that we have only recently launched this service, it's obvious that we are still in the process of placing Marshals in strategic locations around
the country to help in the 'vetting' process (see article under 'Security').
At this point we have 18 Marshals around the country in:
| Whangaparaoa | |
| North Shore | |
| New Lynn | |
| Epsom | |
| Glen Eden | |
| Hamilton | |
| Te Awamutu |
|
| Tauranga | |
| Palmerston North | |
| Paraparaumu | |
| Porrirua | |
| Wainuiomata | |
| Lower Hutt | |
| Nelson | |
| Rangiora | |
| Christchurch | |
| Te Anau |
The Role of a Marshal
The article about 'Security' gives a good overview, and we can send you a guide that explains it in more detail, but essentially our Marshals are appointed for the purpose of verifying an applicant's identity. The applicant is expected to prepare copies of their information (driver's license, passport style photo and proof of current address), and to make initial contact with the Marshal (usually via cell phone) to make an appointment to meet. The applicant is also expected to travel to the Marshal's preferred meeting place, thus keeping the Marshal's time and costs to a bare minimum.
What are we looking for in a Marshal?
We want someone usually a little older and a little wiser in this role. Someone who is comfortable meeting people and someone who is a good judge of character. That someone will also need to have a home computer and be a regular user of email and the internet as this will be our primary method of communication with each other.
Where do we need additional Marshals?
| Kaitaia | |
| Whanagarei | |
| Wakatane | |
| Taupo | |
| Napier | |
| Masterton | |
| Blenheim |
|
| Westport | |
| Timaru | |
| Wanaka | |
| Dunedin | |
| Invercargill | |
Benefits for Marshals
Our Marshals are important to us so we do our best to look after them. The task of verifying an applicant's details shouldn't take more than a few minutes (unless you like to meet people and have a good old chin-wag). But regardless of this we still want to say thank you in some way.
That's why all of our Marshals all get free annual membership for themselves and their families (their Tag-Alongs).
And when we go International, they'll also have the the benefit of International access, also at no charge.
